Thanks to all that came out tonight in support of the Sail All program. What a super program this really is. Sailing as part of the phys ed curriculum in our local schools. Again another year with over 400 school students that participated in the Sail All program. There was also a silent auction. All was in support of Sail All. If you would like to follow the Sail All program their web site is www.sailall.ca. Great job Sail All! What a great addition to last nights TGIF at LYC.
The Bluenose II sailed into the bay and anchored just off the yacht club. I will let the pictures speak for themselves... What a wonderful transformation that the yacht club has taken. The final touches are being put on for what will be I am sure a wonderful evening. Have a look at a few pics;
Lunenburg Fire Department is recruiting young. Actually these 2 young ladies are watching what is called the Lunenburg Wash. Only at LYC does the fire dept show up to hose down the boats of salt water when the racers get off the course for the day. It is one of the highlights of the day!
![]() This is how close it was all weekend long at the North American Sonar Championships. I see team Israel, team New Zealand and one of LYC's team (John Whynact, skipper). A great time was had by all. This weekend the Canadian National Optimist Championships start. This regatta will go on until Friday August 22nd. Again we will see racers from around the globe compete here at LYC. We have racers from Canada, US, Bermuda and this year new sailors from Iceland and Turkey. Come on down and see some of the best young sailors battle it out. Jonathan Chiasson, skipper/owner of the Sonar Shananagans, accepts beer and pizza as one of the prizes for winning the Ian Kent memorial cup that was raced at LYC on Thursday July 31, 2014. He also accepted the Ian Kent Cup along with flowers. Presenting the Pizza and Beer to Jonathan was Ian Kent's sister Judith Riddoch. Presenting the Cup and Flowers with Judith was Ian's good friend Stuart Hebb.
This was the largest fleet that raced this summer. This race is always a highlight of the race season. |
