Membership Categories
LIFE MEMBERSHIP ( 1 Vote ) – One individual who is 19 yrs of age or older. Life members pay a onetime fee to have all the privileges of the Club for their lifetime. They have one vote and can hold office. They may keep a boat at the Club with the rental/ownership of a berth/mooring. They are entitled to a discount on the regular price of fuel. This membership is not transferable.
FULL MEMBER ( 1 Vote ) – One individual who is 19 yrs of age or older. They are entitled to all Club privileges. They have one vote and can hold office. Full members may keep a boat at the Club with the rental/ownership of a berth/mooring. This membership includes a food credit and a discount on the regular price of fuel.
DECK MEMBER – One individual 19 years of age and older. Deck members have full "Club house” privileges. They may only vote if they sit on the Board of Directors. Deck members do not have marina or mooring privileges for a boat, however, they do have wharf privileges when they are a guest of a Full member. This membership includes a food credit.
FULL FAMILY MEMBERSHIP ( 2 Votes ) - A family with 2 individuals over 19 yrs. Both individuals over 19 yrs of age shall be Full members and are entitled to all Club privileges. A boat may be kept at the Club with the rental/ownership of a berth/mooring. This membership unit includes 2 votes, 2 food credits and a discount on the regular price of fuel.
Notes:
- An LYC Membership is required for all Adults 19 yrs of age and older. Guests are allowed 3 visits.
- In order to be eligible to berth/moor a boat at the Club a member MUST join as a Full member or in a category that includes a Full member.
- There is no LYC membership requirement for children under 19 if they accompany a parent/guardian who is a club member, otherwise, a Junior Membership is required if they use the club facilities independently. ( i.e. using the family boat etc. ) Programs, such as LTS and other programs, incorporate membership into their program cost.
- In order to crew in LYC races, in other than a guest capacity ( 3 times ), an individual MUST join the club in one of the appropriate membership categories.
Program/Special Membership Categories
INTERMEDIATE FULL MEMBERSHIP ( 1 Vote ) – One individual between 19 - 35 years of age. They are entitled to all Club privileges. They can vote and sit on the Board of Directors. Intermediate Full members may keep a boat at the Club with the rental/ownership of a berth/mooring. This membership includes a food credit and a discount on the regular price of fuel.
STUDENT MEMBERSHIP– One individual 19-24 years of age. They must be a full time student at a post secondary institution. They shall be entitled to all Club privileges.
JUNIOR MEMBERSHIP – One individual under 19 years of age who uses LYC facilities independently of their parents/guardian, outside of any LYC program. Also required when part of the LYC Race Team for regattas outside LYC. Junior members cannot vote or hold office except in a Junior branch of the Club. Junior application forms must be signed by a parent or guardian and be accepted by the Board of Directors.
CREW MEMBERSHIP - One individual 19 years of age or older. They are entitled to all Club privileges on race days ONLY for 2 hours before and 2 hours after a scheduled racing. Racing Skippers may purchase non-designated Crew Memberships for the use of invited crew.
VISITOR MEMBERSHIP (1 week membership $115 +HST) - This membership is for a visiting individual or family who would like to join the Club for a 1 week period. They are entitled to all Club privileges. All Club privileges are already included for those visitors doing short term marina/berth rentals. Racing privileges are not extended to those with Visitor memberships at external regattas representing LYC.
NEW MEMBERS – New Full, Full Family or Deck members may join the Club at a 25% discount on their membership for the first year only. They must not have been a member of the Club within the previous 5 years.
