"Every Summer, our Instructors take new Students and turn them into Sailors"
2022 Junior Sailing at LYC |

Registration is now open for Learn To Sail!
An exciting summer is planned starting July 1st. The instructors are ready to go and have organized a safe, fun and strong program that will provide all students with great sailing skills, great friends and great lifelong memories! The philosophy of our program is to inspire a lifelong love of the water, to teach every student the skills to be a confident skipper, and to develop, among those sailors with the desire, a competitive race team.

The Lunenburg Yacht Club has one of the best junior sailing programs in the Maritimes. Our sailors learn and race in a fun, safe environment among the famous islands of Mahone Bay. The philosophy of our program is to inspire a lifelong love of the water, to teach every student the skills to be a confident skipper, and to develop, among those sailors with the desire, a competitive race team. Most importantly, our program will provide young sailors with great sailing skills, great friends and great lifelong memories! We also focus on leadership – our sailors learn to work together, to support each other, and to take initiative. Our welcoming environment means that young sailors feel part of a community and often think their sailing friends are their closest friends!
Taught by trained instructors, our program starts once a child has completed Primary/Kindergarten and continues to age 18. It’s designed to adapt to the skill level, aspiration and goals of each sailor as they progress. The program runs full-day with sessions available from the beginning of July to the end of August.
Wet Feet Camp: Our youngest group – for those who have completed Primary/Kindergarten and up to 8 years old - spend their days getting their sea legs out on the water, learning boating skills, making crafts, and playing games.
CanSail 1/2: Beginner sailors age 8 and above who just want to develop their skills while having fun! The program uses C420 RAD training boats and sessions are offered in one week sessions.
Intermediate/Advanced Sailing/Race Team: For sailors looking to advance within the CanSail program, or to refine their race skills, sailing Optis, 420 and Lasers. Offered as two-week programs with many sailors attending all summer.
