Rowing at LYC welcomes Visiting Rowers

LYC Rowing Information and Rules for Visiting Rowers  (May 2024)

We welcome and encourage visiting rowers to come and row at LYC Rowing! We are a Coastal Rowing Club that offers recreational Coastal Rowing on the beautiful waters of Mahone Bay.

Visitors must be experienced rowers registered with / a member of a rowing club. As always with on-water sports, all visiting rowers must take responsibility for their own safety and be mindful of the risks and hazards associated with rowing, as well as local hazards.

Information for visiting rowers at Lunenburg Yacht Club Rowing

Fees: We charge a per row fee to all visiting rowers, plus, if you haven’t already, you will also need to pay the RowNS and/or RCA fees for your first row as a visitor!
  1. If you are a member of a Rowing Club in Nova Scotia the Visiting Rower fee is: $25 + HST ($28.50 total) for each visiting row.
  2. If you are a member of a Canadian Rowing Club in a province other than Nova Scotia, the Visiting Rower Fee is: $25 + HST + $15 RowNS fee ($43.05 total) for your first visiting row. The fee for each subsequent visiting row is $25 + HST ($28.50).
  3. If you are not a member of a Canadian Rowing Club the Visiting Rower Fee is: $25 + HST + $15 RowNS fee + $29.40 RCA Fee ($72.90 total) for your first visiting row. The fee for each subsequent visiting row is $25 + HST ($28.50).

Registration Process for Visiting Rowers at Lunenburg Yacht Club Rowing
If you DON'T already have an Account with Rowing Canada / an RCA Number:
  1. Register with Rowing Canada (RCA) at Log In (rowingcanada.org) then follow the instructions below starting at point 2!

If you already have an Account with Rowing Canada / an RCA Number:
  1. Go to Log In (rowingcanada.org) and sign in to your account. Note: If you can't remember your RCA Number or Username use links to get the RCA system to send it to you!
  2. On your 'MY Account' page click Join a Program
  3. On the "Programs" page select Nova Scotia and LYC Rowing! This will automatically load the page showing you all of the LYC Rowing Membership Categories / Programs
  4. Scroll down the page to find the Visiting Rower 2024 Program. Click the Join button beside the program you want to sign up for. NOTE: the actual fee for the program is listed in the description for each program. PLEASE IGNORE the higher fee amount in the Fee column beside the program description.
  5. Once you have clicked the Join button you will be taken to a page for visiting rowers. Again, the program fee listed is more than the actual fee due to the way the RCA Membership system works.
  6. Fill in the Rowing Canada Waiver by scrolling down the page and checking 'Agree' in each of the four Agree boxes. Then click on Accept. You are now provisionally registered for your program!
  7. DO NOT PAY THE PROGRAM FEE ON THE RCA Website! You can leave the RCA Website.
  8. Send an Email to LYC Rowing to tell us you have signed up as a visitor, and to discuss what dates/times work for you and for LYC Rowing
  9. Complete the LYC Rowing Waiver!
LYC will send you an email with an invoice for your total Visiting Rower Fee. You can pay your fee in person at the Yacht Club before your row, or online using the link provided in the email.

When your Visiting Rower Fee has been paid and the LYC waiver has been received, you will be sent an email confirming that your registration is complete.
