2020 Covid19 Measures

This year we are unable to offer any 'Learn to Row' or 'Come and Try' programs due to Covid19. Unfortunately what that means for individuals looking to try rowing this summer out of the Lunenburg Yacht Club, for your safety and ours, you have to wait until next year.

We have undergone extensive measures to make sure that the members who are able to use our club, do so under strict guidelines created by Row Canada, and our government. If you have any questions relating to safety and the measures we are taking, you can contact our primary safety officer Gill Graves (gravewill@aol.com).

To be eligible to row, you must:
  • Complete regular health checks and stay home if you have signs of sickness. This means check yourself regularly and do not enter your club if you have fever, new cough or a cough that’s getting worse, sore throat, runny nose or headache (or other symptoms as listed on 811.novascotia.ca.) The following app from Health Canada can be used to assist with this: Thrive Health App;
  • Do not enter a club if you have traveled outside of Nova Scotia in the last 14 days;
  • Keep your distance. Limit your interaction with other people and stay at least 2 metres (6 feet) apart; and
  • Abide by all club rules surrounding sanitization and other COVID-related guidelines.

Important Dates:
  • June 15  - Federal government has reduced restrictions so that groups of 10 may gather while practicing social distancing. Rowing is now sanctioned under those same restrictions. Members of RCA and previous rowing members of LYC are now able to sign up for this rowing season.
  • July 25 & August 8 - half day coastal rowing tours of Mahone Bay and picnic lunch.
